Pastels suit the nature of feline subject matter. They are light, mutable and fast to work with. Alan Dedman uses them with acrylics to create lively, ‘free’ interpretations of pussy’s. The smoky, hazy nature of the medium allows loose handling and can produce colourful images of cats. Mickey is a much loved tabby who lives in Dorset. Here she is sprawled on an armchair.
