Alan Dedman studied fine-art (painting), to post-graduate level at the Royal Academy Schools in London, England. There he received a classical training, working from the nude. He began to sketch cats whilst flat sitting for friends and painted cats for family. After reading ‘the Master & Margarita’ by Mikhail Bulgakov, Alan decided to do cats a service, restoring their good standing in popular mythology by making fair and true accounts of them. Manet uses an image of a black cat in his famed painting ‘Olympia’ – but you can find better paintings of cats by Alan Dedman!
